Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans, an independent NGO founded by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, launches its 11th annual Ramadan campaign “Keeping Their Futures Bright through Education.”The campaign’s main objective is to encourage donations in support of the education of orphans upon their graduation from orphan care centers.
The campaign seeks to encourage donations during the holy month of Ramadan. It was stated in Resolution No. 7/2010 -issued by the Council of Fatwa, Research and Islamic Studies – that “educating those in need is considered an ongoing Sadaqa, which would benefit the nation.”Moreover, it explains that Zakaah, as specified by the holy Quran, can be offered to orphans.”
Launched in 2003, Al Aman Fund was later institutionalized in 2006 as a not-for-profit organization under the name of Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans. With over 3,000 orphans benefiting from the Fund, approximately 2,000have already graduated and have started on the path towards a professional career.
