22 May Al-Aman Fund Launches Annual Ramadan Campaign, “Through Education, An Orphan’s Future Begins at 18.”
Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans has launched its annual Ramadan campaign, calling on the Jordanian public to contribute toward the higher education of orphans in Jordan throughout the holy month.
The campaign titled “Through Education, An Orphan’s Future Begins at 18,”encourages donations to support the education of orphans after they graduate from government-run orphanages when they turn 18.
Al-Aman Fund believes that support for orphans after the age of 18 is crucial as early adulthood marks a vulnerable and pivotal time in their lives, with the potential to determine the direction of their future.
The launch followed a teaser campaign bearing the slogan “For an orphan, is turning 18 abeginning or an end?”
An initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development,Al-Aman Fund equips orphans who have reached legal adulthood with the education, training, and necessary skills to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
Since the fund’s establishment in 2006, more than 3,450 orphans have benefitted from its programs, which include educational scholarships, vocational training, cash stipends to cover living costs, guidance and counseling, an internship and employment program, as well as medical insurance.
According to Resolution No. 7/2010 issued by the Council of Fatwa, Research and Islamic Studies, “educating those in need is considered an ongoing Sadaqa, which would benefit the nation.” The Council goes on to explain that Zakaah, as specified by the Holy Quran, can be offered to orphans.
